Sahar Khaleghi is an Iranian artist based in London. Her practice confronts the pressing realities of her homeland, where gender inequality, human rights violations, and recurring executions persist. Growing up as a young woman under the cultural oppression of the current regime, she weaves together modern and historical influences to illuminate the experiences of women across cultures. Through her work, she aims to convey narratives of resilience and resistance that transcend borders, amplifying the shared struggles and triumphs of women worldwide.
She is currently undertaking the MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art.
““Unrest” invites contemplation on the paradox of existence, where the dance of one becomes a reflection of the collective struggle. The human body becomes both vessel and stage — an ark carrying inherited histories, collective memory, and silent resistance. The layered battle scenes and suspended figures echo cycles of conflict and endurance, revealing how personal narratives are inseparable from historical repetition. In this quiet choreography, war and grace coexist, embodying the fragile yet resilient nature of human experience. Through this work, the past is not merely remembered — it is re-enacted in each gesture, each breath, each repetition.”
